From "Sheila" - an unfinished novel:
I'd originally attempted this story for NaNoWriMo, but never finished it. :(
Sheila Murphy peered at herself at the mirror while she brushed her luscious wavy, red hair. Her thin body was covered by thick dust after been through a dust storm, which destroyed most of the town. She gave herself a once over and then walked downstairs to greet her grandfather.
She looked at his wise, old face, which was lined with worry and concern. “I’m all right, Grandfather. It’s been a long day.”
“I’m glad you’re all right. I was so worried about you.”
Sheila gave a rueful smile. “I know. I was worried that I’d never see the light of day.”
“You’ve been through a lot, Sheila. What are you going to do now?”
“I don’t know, Grandfather. There’s so much I need to sort out regarding my life. I feel as though I had walked into a storm…where the dust hasn’t settled yet.”
